EVEN MORE PICTURES OF CLUB MEMBERS IN ACTION:
On this page you will a few of the more 'unusual' pictures from the club's archives, these include shots of Jeff G7BRJ operating a special event station during the Manchester Commonwealth Games throughout 2002, and also some more shots of our 'reluctant' ham, Chris G0WTB. If any members have any other 'odd' pictures which could be here, please contact Alan G4TMV with details during the weekly meetings, or e-mail him with details at: webmaster at ellenroadradioclub.org.uk |

JEFF G7BRJ STRIKES BACK: |
Rochdale Observer readers got a shock during the summer months when they picked up their copies and found our former Club Chairman holding up the banner on the front page of the newspaper! (40kb). |
Here's a shot of Jeff operating GB17CG, the Commonwealth Games special event station from their shack in Manchester Town Hall (39kb). |

IN SEARCH OF THE INVISIBLE HAM: |
The ERC once had one of the world's rarest radio hams amongst their membership. Chris Hicks - G0WTB was his name, and below are some pictures of him in action (or should that read in 'inaction'). Chris is very shy about going on the air (either that or he hasn't worked out how to use a microphone yet), and even our attempts to rectify this with drastic actions such as tying him to the shack chair have proved useless (though it did show that Chris posseses a Harry Houdini like ability to escape). The club is now thinking of buying an electric cattle prod, and if anyone reading this page knows of a UK supplier can you please send us the details.
If you do hear the callsign G0WTB on the air please try to make a recording of it and send it to us, you could be in line to receive one of our incredibly rare "ROCHDALE'S RAREST HAM" certificates (the only existing copy was featured on the BBC's 'Antiques Roadshow' recently!). |

Chris G0WTB (christened G Zero Won't Talk Back by his fellow club members) showing us why he got this nickname (41kb). |
Chris denies that he is mike shy, and here you can see his feeble attempts to deny this reluctance (37kb). |
Chris claims that he's not really mike shy, and will talk back to people, you've seen it here folks and being written by his own hand, now can someone please get him to actually do it instead of just writing about it? (52kb). |
Chris has written here that he will talk back, but don't be fooled, have you noticed the cross through the microphone drawing? This is the man who prints his own QSL cards and then claims they're from other hams - would you believe him? (39kb). |
Chris claimed to have operated this station for RAYNET, but if you look carefully you can see that he's forgotten to plug the power supply in - Nice try Chris! (133kb). |
