SPECIAL EVENT STATION GB0MEW
SUNDAY 23RD OF APRIL 2006:

The Shawclough Amateur Radio Club (as we were called then) operated a special event station with the callsign GB0MEW on Sunday 23rd of April 2006 from "The Mews" Nursing Home in Rochdale. This was done to demonstrate the hobby of Amateur Radio to the young disabled residents of the Home, and also to promote our hobby to a wider audience. Unusually for a special event of this kind, the weather was beautiful, but unfortunately the Solar Weather was less than helpful, and conditions on 40 and 20 Metres were flat as a pancake to say the least. In spite of that contacts were made with a number of UK and European countries, and the event went very well. Below are a selection of pictures taken during the event, and you can see just what things looked like during the operating period.
